Fan fury over Will re-release
15/10/02
WILL YOUNG’s record label BMG
has come under fire from fans after secret plans to re-release his No1 album
were leaked.
Bosses want to bring out From
Now On again — which went straight to the top of the charts on Sunday — in the
run-up to Christmas.
The revamped CD will include an
extra track called Don’t Let Me Down and BMG execs hope the new song will be
enough to tempt fans to splash out again.
Don’t Let Me Down is the double
A-side to Will’s song for the Children In Need charity, called You And I which
will be released on November 18.
But the plan — which the label
was trying to keep quiet — has angered fans who say they are being exploited.
One told The Sun: “This is
outrageous. CDs are expensive enough these days, so to make fans buy it twice
is not fair.
“Will fans have been very loyal
to him, but now it seems BMG are taking us for a ride. The secrecy makes it
even worse.
“The fact they are not being
open about it shows they know they are being unfair.”
Will’s debut album got to No1
at the weekend selling more than 187,000 copies.
A spokesman for Will said last
night: “No decision has been made yet, but if Don’t Let Me Down was on the
original album, it would make less money for Children In Need.”
