Chart topper Will Young has been nicknamed "Willy
No-Mates" - because all his pals have deserted him now he is a star.
The former student - at No.1 with Evergreen - has revealed
that all his friends have stopped calling him since he won Pop Idol last month.
He said: "None of them ring me anymore, which is
slightly worrying!"
The 23 year old also revealed that despite being caught up
in a hectic pop life he is still on the hunt for love.
He said: "I am single at the moment and, but I'd
like to find a new flame."
And he disclosed that the Queen is no longer at the top of
his wish list for dates. Will recently admitted that his ideal night out would
be supper with Her Maj.
But after she voted for rival Gareth in the Pop Idol
finale he has set his sights on a new lady supper date - Hollywood beauty
Michelle Pfeiffer. Will said: "She's gorgeous." He also said
he does not worry if certain sections of the music industry find him
"cheesy". He added: "I'm proud of who I am. If people think
I'm cheesy, then I'll be cheesy and proud!"
Meanwhile, Will is being tipped to steal Madonna's thunder
by recording the theme tune for the new James Bond movie.
He has been secretly working with composer John Barry, who
wrote the 007 hits Goldfinger, You Only Live Twice and Diamonds Are Forever.
It has led to widespread speculation that Will could be
asked to sing the official theme song for the new Bond film, due later this
year.
In recent months there have been rumours that Pop Queen
Madonna would be asked to perform the track.
But now it seems Will could be the one to grab the prized
song instead.
A source said: "Record producers have been in
talks with John Barry to pen some new songs because they think his style of
music would really suit Will's voice.
"That's led to a flurry of speculation that Will
could be invited to record the official song for the new James Bond film.
"To have the UK's hottest singer perform the song
would be a coup for film bosses and Will's record company.
"It would certainly guarantee him another no.1
hit."
Last night Will's spokeswoman refused to be drawn on the
007 rumours.
But she did say: "It's true that there have been
talks with John Barry about involving him in tracks for Will's debut
album."
Meanwhile songwriting legend Burt Bacharach has also been
signed up to write for Will.
The man who wrote massive hits for Cilla Black, Dusty
Springfield and The Walker Brothers is working on a batch of new songs for
Will.
Burt's famous soulful tracks include I'll Never Fall In
Love Again, Make It Easy on Yourself And What The World Needs Is Love.
