Robbie tells Will: Hands off my guy

ROBBIE WILLIAMS is furious that writing partner and pal GUY CHAMBERS is penning songs for WILL YOUNG.

Insecure Robbie, who is taking a year off from the music business, fears his fan base will move away from him and turn to the Pop Idol winner with the help of Guy’s expert guidance.

Guy and Robbie are currently the most successful partnership in pop.

Chambers co-wrote Robbie’s biggest hits including Angels, Let Me Entertain You and Millennium.

The pair also share an Ivor Novello Award for the 1999 No1 single Strong and are as rich as each other.

As well as writing Robbie’s music, Guy also plays keyboards as part of the singer’s backing band on stage.

Guy is a self-confessed workaholic and is not prepared to sit idle for a year while Robbie tries to stay out of the limelight.

He has already written some songs for former All Saint SHAZNAY LEWIS and is now working on material for Will and his record label BMG.

But pals of Robbie say the star is beginning to panic.

One said: “It’s no secret that Robbie puts a large proportion of his success down to Guy’s talents.

“He is putting on a brave face but is concerned he may find it difficult when he returns next year if Guy and Will have formed a strong tie.

“He also fears Will may cash in on his fan base while he takes time out from the scene.

“He’s very insecure and is not happy but Guy is a free agent and he wants to work while Robbie’s having time off.”

Industry bosses say working with Guy is the natural path for Will to go down.

They believe his fans see him as a younger version of Robbie who, with the right songs, can stay at the top for years.

Robbie is currently on holiday in Los Angeles where he goes to Alcoholics Anonymous meetings every day.

He is trying hard to stay sober — and believes he is better off away from the temptations on offer in London.
