In which Mr. Pop Idol finally leaves the constraints of cover version hell behind him and gets a chance to stamp his character on an original tune. 'You And I' is a laidback, easy listening style ballad with a hint of George Michael.
It's George Michael with a huge underbite if you like. The
string arrangements, sumptuous backing vocals and general 'lounge' atmosphere
suit Will's jazzy vocal style perfectly.
He must be dreading Pop Idol 2 though...
