WILL YOUNG will perform on the live final of the US
version of Pop Idol — a huge boost as he tries to make it in America.
The UK Pop Idol winner will fly out to LA early next week to meet up and
rehearse with the American hopefuls.
A spokesman for Will said: “This is a great move for him. It will be the first
time America has seen and heard him live and the biggest audience Will has ever
played to.
“American Idol is the hottest show on TV over there. It has an audience of up
to 20million and for the final you can expect many more to tune in.
“This is the biggest showcase ever for Will. He’s going to be an even bigger
star now.”
The winner will be decided on September 3 by a public vote and Will is set to
appear on that show.
He will then join the last ten wannabes in the winners’ showcase programme the
next day. Will has been added to the group as a special request of Fox, the
broadcasting company behind American Idol.
He may even perform a duet with the eventual winner.
At the moment there are three finalists left fighting it out in the programme —
Nikki McKibbin, Justin Guarini and Kelly Clarkson — and trying to impress
judges nasty SIMON COWELL, singer PAULA ABDUL and
Columbia Records chief RANDY JACKSON.
The winner, like Will, will get a global management deal with SIMON
FULLER’s 19 Entertainment and a record deal with the BMG label.
The last ten contestants will also have the chance to be snapped up by BMG as
Cowell will have the first refusal to guide their careers.
At last Will’s fans will be pacified after accusations of bias towards Gareth
Gates.
Mind you, now Gareth fans will probably be accusing BMG bosses of the same
thing!!
